Houston
History of Houston
As the 4th largest city in the United States and a center for energy, technology, and shipping, Houston has been a prime hub for Kindred activity for over a century. The history of Kindred in Houston has been tumultuous from the start. Most of the original court of Houston actually was the court of Galveston. When the Great Storm of 1900 all but destroyed the port city, the kindred population relocated to Houston and established themselves in the rapidly growing town. Originally an Invictus city, the praxis change from Prince Schluter to Father Francis Fitzgerald of the Lancea Sanctum in the early 21st century was a major shakeup in the lives of the Kindred of Houston, driving many of the older Kindred to slip into anonymity for a time.
With the rise of Prince Swift’s reign in the early 21st century, Houston was catapulted to the forefront of rumor, political intrigue and infamy. From the clashes of Prince Swift’s enormous ego with other domains, to his sudden abdication of power to Prince Swann in late 2007, the last few years in Houston have been filled with excitement and fear, with constant changes of power and status for subjects of the city. In these current nights Houston sees a growth in Kindred population, a re-emergence of old and forgotten kindred, and tumultuous relationships with neighboring domains. Will this city finally see stability and a growth in power and influence? Or will it once more fall to the chaos of Kindred politics? Only time will tell.
